Applying for the IVF Subsidy

  1. 1.
    Who is eligible

・Married couples in which at least one spouse holds R.O.C. (Taiwan) nationality, with the marriage registered in Taiwan

・The wife is under 45 years of age

・The couple has been diagnosed with infertility by a hospital and requires IVF treatment

  1. 2.
    Subsidy amounts

・Low-income and lower-middle-income households: up to NT$150,000

・General households (first claim): up to NT$100,000

・General households (second and subsequent claims): up to NT$60,000

The amount varies with the scope of treatment. If the couple's actual out-of-pocket cost is below the cap, the subsidy is paid according to the actual cost of the treatment cycle.

  1. 3.
    Maximum number of claims

・Age 39 and under: up to 6 claims

・Age 40 to 44: up to 3 claims

If a baby has already been successfully delivered through IVF,

the number of remaining claims is recalculated according to the age brackets above.

  1. 4.
    Required documents

・Original and photocopy of both spouses' ID cards

・Original low-income or lower-middle-income household certificate (not required for general households)

・Bank account details for the subsidy transfer

・An infertility diagnosis certificate issued by a designated medical institution (see here for details)

  1. 5.
    How to apply

Receive a diagnosis at an MOHW-designated medical institution

Submit the required documents and apply through that designated institution

Once approved, begin treatment within one year, and have both spouses sign the subsidy claim within six months of completing treatment

After government review, you will be notified by post and the subsidy transferred to your designated account

If one spouse holds R.O.C. nationality, the wife is under 45, and you have been trying to conceive without contraception for over a year without success — or a doctor has determined that IVF is needed — you are welcome to apply for the government's IVF (Assisted Reproductive Technology) Subsidy Programme through a designated medical institution.

※ Cases that are not eligible

① Egg freezing by single women

② Couples whose marriage is not registered in Taiwan

③ Same-sex couples
