Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
ICSI is an advanced IVF technique in which one normal-looking, motile sperm is selected under a microscope and injected directly into the egg cytoplasm.
It can be used when sperm count or motility is too low for sperm to penetrate the egg and complete fertilization on their own.
Indications
- ✓Severe male-factor infertility that prevents the sperm and egg from fertilizing.
- ✓Non-male-factor infertility in which conventional IVF cannot achieve fertilization.
- ✓Use of frozen-thawed eggs.
- ✓Use of in-vitro matured eggs.
- ✓Preimplantation genetic testing or diagnosis (PGT-A / PGT-M), to prevent sperm outside the embryo from affecting the accuracy of the embryo sample.
