【Good Pregnancy Story】
This couple lives in the United States and had been married for eight years without becoming pregnant.
Their doctor in the U.S. recommended IVF, but it was discovered that uterine fibroids were blocking access to the ovaries, making egg retrieval difficult.
They were told that she would first need open abdominal surgery to remove the fibroids.
Last September, after being referred by someone, she returned to Taiwan from the United States to visit Yun-I.
At her first consultation, after evaluation by Dr. Yi-Liang Li, he performed transvaginal natural orifice myomectomy, vNOTES, for her — a procedure with no visible external wound.
After she returned to the U.S., her American doctor was very surprised and praised how Taiwanese physicians could remove those fibroids without any external incision 🤩!
At the end of last year, she underwent her first IVF treatment in the United States.
A total of 16 eggs were retrieved, 8 were fertilized, and by day 6, 1 blastocyst was formed and sent for PGT, preimplantation genetic testing.
Unfortunately, the result was abnormal, and there was no embryo available for transfer.
This April, she returned to Taiwan again and came back to Yun-I.
I planned a personalized IVF treatment for her. We retrieved 17 eggs and froze 4 blastocysts before she returned to the United States.
At the end of July, the couple arranged their vacation and returned to Yun-I.
Considering that she was already 39 years old, along with her previous treatment experience and personal needs, they decided to transfer two blastocysts.
Today, she is 5 weeks pregnant, and ultrasound confirmed two gestational sacs.
The couple and our team were all very happy 🥰!
They are returning to the United States this afternoon.
I reminded them to continue monitoring both the mother and babies after returning to the U.S. to ensure a safe pregnancy.
