The couple lives in the United States and had been married for eight years without successfully conceiving. Their doctor in the U.S. recommended IVF, but it was discovered that uterine fibroids were obstructing access to the ovaries and making egg retrieval difficult. She was therefore advised to undergo open abdominal surgery to remove the fibroids first. In September two years ago, she returned to Taiwan from the U.S. after being referred to Yun Medical. Following evaluation, Dr. Yi-Liang Lee performed a scarless vaginal natural orifice fibroid removal surgery using vNOTES (vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery). After she returned to the U.S., her American doctor was amazed and impressed that Taiwanese physicians were able to remove the fibroids without leaving any external surgical wounds 🤩!
She later underwent her first IVF cycle in the United States. Sixteen eggs were retrieved, but unfortunately, there were no PGT-normal embryos available for transfer.
In April last year, she returned to Taiwan and came back to Yun Medical. Dr. Hui-Po Li designed a personalized IVF treatment plan for her. Seventeen eggs were retrieved, and four blastocysts were successfully frozen before she returned to the U.S.
At the end of July, the couple arranged their vacation and returned to Yun Medical. Considering that she was already 39 years old, along with her previous treatment experience and personal needs, they decided to transfer two blastocysts.
Today, the couple returned to Yun Medical with their two-month-old boy-and-girl twins to visit the team. Everyone was overjoyed 🤗. This cross-border IVF journey lasted two years and involved repeated travel across the ocean as well as surgery, making it an incredibly challenging journey. But seeing the two doctors holding the twins in their arms today, all the effort and perseverance have finally been rewarded with a beautiful outcome.
