The couple lives in the United States and had been married for eight years without being able to conceive. Their doctor in the U.S. recommended IVF, but it was discovered that uterine fibroids were obstructing access to the ovaries, making egg retrieval difficult. She was therefore advised to undergo open abdominal surgery to remove the fibroids first. In September last year, after being referred by someone she knew, she traveled back to Taiwan from the United States and visited “Becoming Reproductive Center.” After her initial evaluation, Dr. Li Yi-Liang performed a transvaginal natural orifice fibroid removal procedure ( vNOTES ), leaving no visible external surgical wound. After she returned to the U.S., her American doctor was amazed and praised how Taiwanese physicians were able to remove the fibroids without leaving any external incision🤩！
At the end of last year, she underwent her first IVF cycle in the United States. Sixteen eggs were retrieved, eight were fertilized, and one blastocyst developed by Day 6. The blastocyst underwent PGT（preimplantation genetic testing for chromosomal abnormalities）, but unfortunately the result was abnormal, leaving no embryo suitable for transfer.
In April this year, she returned to Taiwan and came back to “Becoming Reproductive Center.” I designed a personalized IVF treatment plan for her. Seventeen eggs were retrieved, and four blastocysts were successfully cryopreserved before she returned to the United States.
At the end of July, the couple arranged their vacation and returned to “Becoming Reproductive Center.” Considering that she was already 39 years old, together with her previous treatment experience and personal preferences, they decided to transfer two blastocysts. Today, she is 5 weeks pregnant, and ultrasound confirmed two gestational sacs. The couple and our entire team were absolutely delighted🥰！
They will return to the United States this afternoon. I reminded them to continue closely monitoring both the mother and babies after returning home to ensure a safe pregnancy. We look forward to welcoming the new lives safely and smoothly!
